CHARITIES & PARTNERSHIPS

Just as it was to our founder throughout his entire life, especially his pharmacy which opened in 1921,  charity continues to be a core value  among The Ferko String Band and its membership.  We recognize that the success and reputation of our organization throughout the years would not have been possible without the help of those who have shown charity, and we believe in sharing that success by contributing what we can to a worthy cause.  Whether it be an event to help raise funds, food, awareness or spirits, The Ferko String Band is fortunate and proud to use our musical talents as a means to achieve victory throughout the entire year.  Throughout the years we have cultivated wonderful relationships with some of these charities including SUSAN G. KOMEN PHILADELPHIA, MUMMERS AGAINST CANCER FOUNDATION INC., THE RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE, THE VETRI FOUNDATION FOR CHILDREN...and the list goes on.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY

"I can remember the times when our family needed a prescription filled, but didn't have the money then and there.  Mr. Ferko would graciously fill the prescription, and even had a way of making you feel comfortable in a such a situation, and even gave us kids a piece of candy as we left!

Palandro-Ferry Memorial Foundation

Philadelphia

On January 2, 2019, Denny Palandro Jr., Joe Ferry, and Joe's fiancé Kelly Wiseley was tragically involved in a car accident that took their lives. Denny and Joe, beloved members of the South Philadelphia String Band, contributed their talents and love for the Philadelphia Mummers in many ways.

The Palandro-Ferry Memorial Foundation, founded on the 3rd day of January 2019, will provide monetary scholarships and goodwill among the Philadelphia Mummers Community, as well as serve as a reminder of these amazing people. Let us never forget them.
